The Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery

Ellsworth Dairy Cooperative is based in the Heart of Wisconsin's Dairyland in the town of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, and was proclaimed the "Cheese Curd Capital of Wisconsin " by Governor Anthony S. Earl in 1984. Our 450 proud dairy farm family owners live near Ellsworth, throughout Wisconsin, and into Minnesota.

We formed our cooperative in 1910 to manufacture and sell butter.  In 1966, we began our first expansion by making cheese. Two years later, we began our second expansion by selling packaged curds.

Today we produce about 160,000 pounds of 100% All Natural Premium Cheddar Cheese Curds each day.  Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery accepts only farmer certified rBST free milk!  We have a nine-member board of directors elected from its membership to uphold our mission statement which is to maintain the true meaning of a cooperative by enhancing returns to our owners as much as possible while treating them fairly and equitably.  We will continue to upgrade our facility and provide a good work environment while producing superior quality dairy products.

In June of 2011 the Ellsworth Cooperative bought Blaser’s Premium Cheeses, located in the small town of Comstock in northwestern Wisconsin. The Comstock Creamery manufactures naturally flavored cheeses under the Blaser’s, Antonella, Ellsworth Valley rBST-free cheese, Kammerude, and Golden Age labels.  What was known as Blaser’s USA, Inc. started with a creamery, the Comstock Co-op, built on the site in 1901, accepting home-separated cream from area farmers and manufacturing butter from the sweet cream. In 1948 the company’s focus turned to cheese production. After a short time producing Swiss cheese (and at one time, Limburger), in the 1970s Blaser’s focused primarily on Muenster cheese and is still today one of the country’s leading manufacturers of Red Rind Muenster.

Our cheese curds and cheeses can be purchased fresh at our on-location retail stores in Ellsworth and Comstock, open 7 days a week from 9 am-5 pm , found in grocery stores or purchased online at store.ellsworthcheese.com  and shipped to desired locations all across the United States.
