We invite you to join us as we celebrate the one-year anniversary of Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery’s Menomonie retail store! From April 20-23, 2023, we will be hosting an exciting four-day event filled with in-store specials, door prizes, and samples. We can’t wait to share this exciting milestone with our loyal customers and friends!
During our anniversary celebration, you will enjoy amazing discounts on select apparel and specialty food items. But the most exciting offer is the rare opportunity to stock up on all your favorite award-winning cheeses, including our award-winning Pepperoni Marinara Antonella, the first cheese crafted in our new Menomonie facility to earn first place recognition in national competition. This cheese was awarded the Chairman’s Trophy for most outstanding cheese at the National Milk Producers Federation Championship Cheese Contest last November.
You will also have the chance to see cheese being made through our viewing windows, and our cheesemakers will be there to answer any questions you have about cheese and cheesemaking. Plus, we’ll be serving up our famous hand-battered deep fried cheese curds, made from our all-natural cheddar cheese curds. Samples of new and popular products will also be available—hopefully you will discover some new favorites.
At Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery, we’re committed to delivering the best possible products and service to our customers. We’re grateful for the support we’ve received from the community throughout the past year, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds. We look forward to celebrating with you!
We met Kristin Haubrich from KSTP’s Twin Cities Live last June when she came to Ellsworth to broadcast live from the annual Cheese Curd Festival. Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery’s master cheese curd fryers, Dean and Shane, taught her how to fry cheese curds like a pro. It was so much fun we invited her to visit Ellsworth again to see how we make the curds.
Kristin made the trek to the Cheese Curd Capital of Wisconsin again this week to see our production process firsthand. Each day Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery transforms 2 million pounds of milk into 200,000 pounds of fresh squeaky cheese curds. To produce the amount of cheese curds we make each day, automation and technology are an important–and impressive–part of the process.
Visitors to our Ellsworth retail store can find the fresh curds of the day available at 11am. Natural is by far the favorite among cheese curds fans. Garlic cheese curds are another top seller. Our newest flavor, Dill Pickle, and popular stand-by, Taco cheese curds are growing in popularity.
We invite you to visit one of our retail stores soon. In Ellsworth, WI, visitors can purchase the fresh curds of the day beginning at 11am. In Menomonie, WI, see the cheesemaking process through the viewing windows. Learn more here.
It’s a holiday made just for us, National Cheese Curd Day is coming up on Saturday, October 15. As the Cheese Curd Capital of Wisconsin, this is one holiday we like to celebrate big and we invite you to join in! We’re celebrating at our own retail locations and are also participating in events across Wisconsin. Here’s where you can find us…

No matter where you’re from, we hope you’re able to take in a National Cheese Curd Day event with us this year. If you don’t celebrate this holiday where you’re from, or your schedule doesn’t permit, watch our Facebook page for something special our team is putting together to commemorate the day!
When it comes to making a quality product, the importance of a skilled workforce can’t be overstated. That’s one reason the relationships we’ve fostered with our regional education partners are so important to our organization.
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is one of those valued partners. Many UW-RF graduates fill critical and valued roles within our organization. One UW-RF project that is particularly important to us as a producer of dairy products is their Dairy Pilot Plant, which is currently undergoing a major renovation and set to reopen next spring.
Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery has been a big supporter of the project. In total, our board of directors has committed $150,000 to the renovation. The Dairy Pilot Plant offers students the opportunity for hands-on learning using state-of-the-art technology and processes for unmatched teaching, learning, and research opportunities–all extremely important in an evolving industry such as ours.
Continued growth and success of our cooperative rely on a passionate and skilled workforce. We’re confident our investment into this project will pay dividends as we look ahead to our future workforce needs.
WisBusiness spoke with Michell Farner, manager of the Dairy Pilot Plant, to learn more about the project. You can find the article here.
